How is the staff immersion programme funded?

For Global Staff Immersions, CDT provides funds to cover flights, 50% DSA, and accommodation. In 2024, one trainee from each region will be supported, for a total of 12 slots.

Do you get DSA if you are selected for the staff immersion programme?

Yes. Selected staff for the global staff immersion programme receive 50% DSA. Accommodation is paid directly by the organization.

Where will the staff immersion programme take place?

The 30-day on-the-job training experience can take place in any mission that is willing to host and support qualified applicants in meeting their learning objectives. The Specialist may be based in any location and will provide career development support throughout the assignment.

Is the time in staff immersion taken as annual leave?

No. On-the-job training is not considered annual leave; it is treated as regular working time.

Can an office fund someone to go on staff immersion at any time?

Yes. At any point in the year, missions may identify staff with clear on-the-job learning objectives. Missions fund these independent immersions directly and are asked to inform CDT so guidance and evaluation can be provided.

How many trainees can be accepted per regional office?

Only one trainee is selected per region annually. However, regional offices may opt to cost-share and send two trainees.

Can a trainee look for their specialist themselves?

The host department will identify a qualified “Specialist” (GS, NO, or P level) to support the trainee.
